I must have died at least a dozen times before I finally got his attack patterns down pat and, of course, the ultimate victory felt great as a result. When you finally get to the first proper boss fight of the game, the Cyberdemon, you get this great first phase where you are lulled into a false sense of security as you pump bullets into this stupid idiot and the game laughs at you while you feel like a badass before slapping you with the brutal second phase. I just played through Doom 2016 for the first time and, as awesome as it was, the final boss and the battle against it just weren't very satisfying to me.
